Muscletech Signs Blessing The Boogieman Awodibu
By Roger Lockridge
2022 New York Pro Champion and 2022 Indy Pro winner Blessing Awodibu now has a new sponsor as he prepares to make his 2022 Mr. Olympia debut. After spending months as a free agent, the “Boogieman” has signed a multi-year agreement with MuscleTech. The news was shared by both parties on Instagram and YouTube. Awodibu shared the news on his YouTube channel, which you can see below.
“The Boogieman is now Muscletech,” he said proudly in his video.
Awodibu and Scott Welch, Associate Director of MuscleTech and Muscle Insider Founder, both joined Priceplow for an Instagram video, where they made the news official. That can be see in the following Instagram Reel that was shared by MuscleTech and Priceplow.
In a recent press release MuscleTech's new Associate Director Scott Welch touches on a few reason why Blessing was a must have at the global brand.
“The signing of Blessing Awodibu is symbolic of our focus back in the bodybuilding and fitness industry and where the MuscleTech® brand started back in 1995.” said Scott Welch, the Associate Director for MuscleTech® and founder of Muscle Insider. “Blessing is one of the rare athletes who has built a world class physique while also building a massive fan following with his social media content making him a fan-favorite amongst bodybuilding fans. But the improvements he’s made to his physique in just one year are a sign of the true genetic potential of Blessing as an athlete. We’re excited to fuel his Olympia® prep with our newest innovations and hope to see him in that first callout!.”
Awodibu’s new sponsor comes on board with less than five weeks before he is set to compete on bodybuilding’s biggest stage in Las Vegas, Nevada on the weekend of December 16th through 18th. Prior to joining MuscleTech, Awodibu had been involved with two separate stints with Redcon1 as a sponsored athlete. Now that he is with Team MuscleTech, he shared the importance of having one of Canada’s top brands backing him as he competes for a world championship.
“As a professional bodybuilder, having a sponsor, having a team behind you, it means a lot,” said Awodibu. “They say bodybuilding is a one-man sport, but it’s definitely not a one-man sport. There’s a lot that goes into it.”
Awodibu joins a roster of athletes that include Abel Albonetti, Jessie Godderz, Abby Mace, and several others. MuscleTech, and their parent company, Iovate, were considered the dominant supplement brand in the early 2000’s and early 2010’s because of their roster of world-class bodybuilders that represented them, such as Jay Cutler, Phil Heath, Dexter Jackson, Branch Warren, Johnnie Jackson, and others. Awodibu felt honored to be able to add himself as an athlete who received the backing of the brand and be the first bodybuilder of this new era.
“They are back to continue that legacy with The Boogieman, and guys, I can’t tell you enough how excited I am to be a part of this amazing team, and the best thing about them is they are worldwide.”
MuscleTech has made several newsworthy moves in the supplement space in recent months. Aside from this signing, they also rolled out the release of their new pre-workout, EUPHORi!Q, which you can read about here.
As for Awodibu, he will now focus on preparing to share the stage with past Mr. Olympia winners Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay and Brandon Curry as well as his rematch with 2021 New York Pro winner Nick Walker and the rest of the qualified athletes at the Mr. Olympia. No athlete has won that title in their first opportunity going back to Larry Scott winning the very first contest in 1965.
