2023 Master's Olympia Competitors Announced

On Tuesday, April 25th, the Masters Olympia promoters revealed the lists of contenders for the 2023 Masters Olympia, which will take place on the weekend of August 25th through 27th in Romania. There had been a lot of anticipation about who would be on these rosters, and some surprising names made the lists. You can see all ten rosters by scrolling through the Instagram post below.

In Men’s Bodybuilding, the biggest name that stood out was Josh Lenartowicz, who will be making his return to the stage after a three-year plus absence. The “King of the Gym” last appeared at the 2020 Arnold Classic, where he placed 11th. However, he had been a multiple-time top 10 Mr. Olympia competitor and won multiple shows internationally. If he resembles the athlete fans remember from the late 2010’s, then this show will certainly be one to watch.

Unfortunately, some fans are paying more attention to who is not on the list. Four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler had been the subject of rumors that he would enter, but he debunked those recently in an Instagram story. Other bodybuilding greats such as Victor Martinez, Johnnie Jackson, and Branch Warren also were not on this roster. 2019 Olympia 212 winner Kamal Elgargni is on the list, though, so it won’t be short on star power.

In the 212 division, 2008 Olympia 202 (before 212) champion David Henry and former Arnold Classic 212 titleholder Hidetada Yamagishi were announced as competitors. Former 212 great and current Masters athlete Derik Farnsworth will also be in this show. The Classic Physique division includes 2020 Arnold Classic Physique winner Alex Cambronero and Darrem Charles, who won 18 shows in total between the Open and Classic Physique.

On the women’s side, bodybuilding will feature 17 competitors looking to become the first Ms. Masters Olympia, including Tananarive Huie, who just placed fifth in the Open at the Vancouver Island Showdown. Women’s Physique has 18 ladies entered. Fitness only has nine competitors, but they include Canadian competitor Tamara Vahn and Minna Pajulahti. Both ladies finished in the top 10 at the 2022 Fitness Olympia. Stephanie Jones was 13th in that same contest, and she is in this lineup as well.

The Figure lineup will include the 2022 Figure Olympia runner-up Jessica Reyes Padilla, who could be considered the favorite to win this title. Bikini has the most athletes out of all ten divisions with 21 entrants. The Wellness division will have 18 athletes in the show.

All winners of each contest will earn a qualification to compete in the 2023 Olympia Weekend in Orlando, Florida this November. There are many of these athletes that have never graced the Olympia stage in their careers, while others have and want at least one more shot of standing on the biggest stage in the sport. Muscle Insider will continue to provide updates on this contest and share previews and predictions before the big weekend in Romania.
