2022 Toronto Pro SuperShow Predictions

The 2022 Toronto Pro is scheduled to be held on Sunday, June 5 in Toronto, Ontario. 70 IFBB Pro League athletes across ten divisions will gather to determine who will be the next champions to earn qualification for the 2022 Olympia Weekend, set to take place Dec. 16-18 in Las Vegas, NV.

All eleven pro divisions were scheduled to have competitions at this event. As of Tuesday, May 31st, no Wheelchair athletes were on the competitor list. So, let’s take a look at those that will be posing down in front of the judges. All competitors are listed in alphabetical order with predictions to follow.

Men’s Open

Slavoj Bednar

Dorian Haywood

Theo Leguerrier

Andrea Muzi

Joe Seeman

Mohamed Shaaban

Mariusz Tomczuk

The men’s open lineup has a blend of up and comers as well as veterans. The clear favorite is Mohamed Shaaban, who is coming off a second-place finish in the California Pro. Unless someone else jumps in before the contest, he will be the favorite to take the win here. Among those that could make his road difficult are Andrea Muzi and Canada’s own Joe Seeman. That could very well be the top three at this show by the end of the day.

1. Mohamed Shaaban

2. Andrea Muzi

3. Joe Seeman

212

  • Murat Gonul
  • Hossein Kalateh
  • Junho Kim
  • Kentaro Kuramochi

The 212 contest can be considered a toss-up. There is no clear favorite in this one. So, it’s a matter of who shows up on game day looking as he should. While Junho Kim may be someone to watch, we can’t help but keep an eye on our two Canadian athletes – Murat Gonal and Hossein Kalateh.

1. Junho Kim

2. Hossein Kalateh

3. Murat Gonal

Classic Physique

  • Eric Abelon
  • Corey Amey
  • Aaron Aramini
  • Tyler Johnson
  • Hyoung Joo Kwon
  • Luis Sosa Murueta
  • Rob Van Sant
  • Kellen Wilson

One Classic Physique competitor that has shown promise is Tyler Johnson. He placed 4th at the 2021 Hurricane Pro, which was his debut. Then there’s last year’s North American winner, Kellen Wilson. He could also be a dark horse threat. Those could be the top two at the end of the contest, with the third-place spot going to any of the other five athletes.

1. Tyler Johnson

2. Kellen Wilson

3. Hyoung Joo Kwon

Men’s Physique

  • Francisco de la Cruz
  • Reuben Glass
  • Brett Mario Jackson Jr.
  • Mehdi Kabbadj
  • Clarence Lau
  • Daniel Leone
  • Michael Norwood Jr.
  • Vilius Palionis
  • Chevy Phillips
  • Sharif Reed
  • Lamar McNeal Smith

The Men’s Physique lineup has the most athletes on the men’s side. Ten competitors are slated to compete. None of these competitors were in the 2021 Olympia lineup. So, this is a big opportunity to make a name for themselves. Brett Jackson placed fifth in Charlotte, and we can see him taking first in Toronto with Reuben Glass and Daniel Leone rounding out the top three.

2. Daniel Leone

3. Reuben Glass

Women’s Bodybuilding

  • Michelle Brent
  • Gisela Nunes Chan
  • Michelle Jin
  • Lisa Kudrey

We have three women competing in the women’s bodybuilding event. So, it’s a matter of picking the order if someone else doesn’t jump in. We can see Lisa Kudrey leaving Toronto with a first place trophy and Olympia qualification.

1. Lisa Kudrey

2. Michelle Jin

3. Gisela Nunes Chan

Women’s Physique

  • Sarah Bow
  • Marysel Cruz Cruz
  • Eleonora Dobrinina
  • Jazmine Lira Flores
  • Alethia Legall-Gabriel
  • Marianne Von Glerke
  • Ji Hye Lee
  • Emilija Martic
  • Sanna Nupponen
  • Mindi O’Brien
  • Renee Reefschlager
  • Nadia Vandal

As with the Men’s Physique division, none of these ladies were on the Olympia stage last year. Who will be there this year? As for this contest, Ji Hye Lee was second at the 2021 Monsterzym Pro, and she could be in the mix here. Emilija Martic came close to winning in Vancouver earlier this season, but she finished in second. Martic won’t repeat that fate in Toronto. She will be the last woman standing in this field. Honorable mention and dark horse in this line up would be Mindi O’Brien who seems to have come out of retirement to compete at this event. To our knowledge she is the only female competitor to have competed in all of the women’s divisions at one time or another including Women’s Physique and placed well qualifying for the Olympia 11 times. That’s more Olympia qualifications than this entire line up combined!

1. Emilija Martic

2. Ji Hye Lee

3. Nadia Vandal

Fitness

  • Abby Bolton
  • Danielle DaCosta
  • Giorgia Foroni
  • Corina Harkelroad
  • Stephanie Jones

Canada’s own Abby Bolton finished second at this contest in 2021, and she is back to claim what she feels is hers – first place. Standing in her way are four other athletes, including Stephanie Jones. Bolton will correct the errors she found last year, and be back better this time around.

2. Stephanie Jones

3. Giorgia Foroni

Figure

  • Melissa Cech
  • Yelena Larina
  • Hanwool Park
  • Larisa Penaloza
  • Valerie Ratelle
  • Danielle Rose
  • Mandy Urner

Someone to watch in Figure is Danielle Rose. She has gradually improved each year, and 2022 could be when we see her break through. Valerie Ratelle turned pro at the 2020 Amateur Olympia, and she could be in the mix as well. Mandy Urner can round out the top three.

Bikini

  • Lilian Lopez Alonso
  • Juliane Andrade
  • Cassandra De La Rosa
  • Sarah Devore
  • Marie-Eve Duchesneau
  • Eli Fernandez
  • Ashley Kaltwasser
  • Ha Yeun Kim
  • Yeoni Lee
  • Adair Libbrecht
  • Bola Seo
  • Karen Wall
  • Jodie Jean Yunker
  • Laura Ziv

Is there any doubt who the favorite is here? Three-time Olympia champion Ashley Kaltwasser will add another win to her record-setting pace and continue her legacy as the greatest in her division’s history. Eli Fernandez will make it interesting, but we see Kaltwasser placing first.

1. Ashley Kaltwasser

2. Eli Fernandez

3. Juliane Andrade

Wellness

  • Emily Azzarello
  • Daniela Dalana
  • Normarie Fonseca
  • Kassandra Gillis
  • Celeste Morales
  • Angela White

Last but not least is the Wellness division. When this competitor list was first made public, none of the competitors in this division had made it to the Olympia last year. The revised and most updated list now includes Canada’s Kassandra Gillis who placed 11th at last year’s Olympia. Gillis also placed 2nd in her last two shows (Pittsburgh Pro and New York Pro) to Sunny Andrews who took the top spot at both events. That said, we have Gillis coming in as the favorite in the Wellness division at the Toronto Pro SuperShow followed by Angela White and Normarie Fonseca rounding up the top 3.

2. Angela White

3. Normarie Fonseca

4. Celeste Morales
