The 2012 MABBA Gorilla Jack Novice Championships Biggest in Canadian history… Again!
On Saturday, March 17th, 2012, the Manitoba Amateur Bodybuilding Association (MABBA) is going to make Canadian history.
According to MABBA President, Tom Heffner, current athlete registrations are at 201 entries, which already exceeds last year’s recording breaking 189. And with over 2 weeks still left for athletes to register, Heffner has ordered 250 competitor buttons because he expects more athletes to still register. Furthermore, the evening show’s 1433 seats at the Pantages Theatre in Winnipeg, MB, are already sold out!
Heffner credits the continued growth of the women’s bikini division and the introduction of the new men’s and women’s physique division for attracting new interest from aspiring athletes of all ages and body types to test their mettle on stage for the first time.
Interest is right! “In the past, the local media showed little interest in covering the our Novice and Provincial shows,” Heffner said, “but now we are happy to have some of Canada’s top industry magazines, such as Muscle Insider, in attendance to not only cover the show, but participate as sponsors as well.”
“We thought last year’s record breaking show was going to be difficult to top, but we at MABBA continued to work hard to promote our events and work with our athletes and sponsors to keep the momentum going, and I am excited to say we’ve done it again!” Heffner said. “We are very excited for this upcoming event as we’re going to make Canadian history again, and reinforce Manitoba’s reputation as a fitness and physique sport Mecca in Canada!”
