Why did you become a personal trainer?

I got into fitness for myself, and as I became more fit and personally experienced, I would have people approaching me asking for advice, assuming that I was a trainer. I was really flattered that members of my gym were seeing me as their motivation, so I began sharing my lifestyle on social media. From there, I really started to build a presence online by posting my workouts, recipes, healthy alternatives, and tips. Strangers all over the world appreciated the information I was giving them, so I guess you could say I was becoming a motivational figure in the fitness community. Websites began posting me, and after being a host for bodyrock.tv, I decided to get qualified and start my own company because I was too passionate about fitness at this point to stop. The feeling I get when people email me saying how I’ve turned their lifestyle around into a positive direction makes all the hard work I’ve put into this so worth it!

What do you think is the reason your clients gravitated to you?

I believe people gravitate towards me because I absolutely refuse to sell anyone fake expectations or overpromise results. My coaching approach is incredibly realistic and honest. I dig deep into the mental challenges we as humans have. I do this because anything affecting us mentally definitely hinders our health. I really get to know my clients so that I can find out why they are where they are, and they really trust me. I’m more of a friend than a coach, which works well because it creates a long-lasting bond. Something that a new client recently wrote to me was this: “I didn't see your pretty photos", and that became my driving force. I have done my research, and I believe you are 100% legitimate in what you have to offer. I don’t trust a lot, but I trust you, and trust you want to make a sincere change in people, particularly me in this case. I have looked at hundreds of sites similar to yours, and the winning formula you have is that you’re one on one and communicate openly. You have a real passion for health and fitness … and selfies!” It made me feel really great to read that and also gave me a laugh. It ensures that I’m doing something right!

Greatest client success story.

I can’t choose one client in particular, but I have had clients with eating disorders and/or postpartum depression, and with the help of my programs and support, they have been able to get through those struggles. Here’s some words from one of those amazing clients: “After having two children I never thought I could feel this strong or this fit again. I never believed I could actually look forward to working out again. I never thought I would find the time to do it whilst breastfeeding an infant and chasing a preschooler. Haley’s programs and encouragement have shattered all of my expectations. I know I still have a long way to go, but I also know I will get there. The exercise has been fantastic for postpartum physical and mental recovery. It’s not a fad, it’s a lifestyle. Thank you, Haley!”

Why do you think you can rep BSN like a boss? What do you love about the brand?

I wouldn’t represent anything that I didn’t actually enjoy. I have a really bonded relationship with my social media, so anything that I’ve ever promoted, I’ve genuinely used or loved. They know I would never recommend something just to receive free products. So I believe for that reason alone, I could represent BSN like a boss because my clientele would trust that I actually love it, because I actually do. Something that I noticed and appreciated off the bat about BSN was their athlete roster. BSN has many different styles of athletes, and I really love that because most supplement companies seem to only cater to promoting competition athletes. I believe that supplements are used for more than that and should be magnifying all sorts of figures, which BSN does.

Why should YOU be Canada’s Top Trainer?

I believe that there are a lot of amazing trainers out there, but I do consider myself to be unique and different. A lot of trainers have a certain type of style and a certain type of client that they target. I, on the other hand, target everyone and use many, many different exercise methods to not only shock their bodies with routine changeups but also educate them on everything that’s out there. One day that client will be on their own, and I want them to feel comfortable and secure enough to be able to do it without questioning themselves. I work hard to get rid of the intimidation that most people feel when they enter a gym. I believe that building a friendship with my clients allows them to feel comfortable and vulnerable with me, and that gives me a better idea of what will work for them. About 95 percent of my clients re-purchase sessions, which really does say it all because people wouldn’t waste their money if they didn’t see me as a great coach. I’m passionate about what I do, and I’m positive that people can see that.

What is your favourite BSN product and why?

I have been using different pre-workouts for about six years, so I have a good grasp of what I like and what works, but when I find a pre-workout that I love, I stick to it for a long time. One day I had no pre-workout left, so I borrowed a scoop of my boyfriend’s N.O.-Xplode, and the first thing I noticed was that it mixed into my water easily and that it actually tasted really good. On my way to the gym, I started getting the tingles in my fingers and lips, which was something I haven’t had in a while, and I love that feeling! It totally jacks me up for the gym! That day I had one of the best workouts that I’d had in a while. I love that it’s not overloaded with caffeine too, because high caffeinated products make me crash afterwards, and this doesn’t. I guess you could say I accidentally fell in love with BSN because after that I ended up purchasing a bin of the N.O.-Xplode instead of the pre workout that I had been loyal to for a long time. So I’d have to say N.O.-Xplode is my favourite BSN product.
